Calm My Body
When feelings get big, calming the body can make it easier to think and choose what to do next.
What to know
Breathe in slowly, pause, then breathe out longer than you breathed in.
Name five things you see, four you can touch, three you hear, two you smell, and one you taste.
Move safely: walk, stretch, shake out your hands, or sit somewhere quieter.
Try it
Choose one calming tool and practice it when you already feel okay. Skills are easier to use later when they are familiar.
When to reach out
If calming tools do not help or you feel unsafe, go to a trusted adult.
